Clifford E. White Theatre

Northern Arizona University (NAU) opened the Creative Arts Center in 1969. The building originally housed the Journalism Department, the Art Department, the Drama Department, the campus radio station, and a small theatre. NAU formally named the building the Clifford E. White Theatre in 1993.

Clifford E. White taught theatre at NAU from 1968 to 1992 and served as chair of the Speech and Theatre Department. He and his wife, Doris, were known as Mr. and Mrs. Flagstaff Theatre. They also established Theatrikos, a local theatre company.

The Clifford E. White Theatre also includes classrooms, the Clifford E. White Resource Library, the design lab, and the Studio Theatre. Renovations to the theatre since 1980 include stage modifications that addressed safety issues and upgrading the lobby.
