University Services Building

Northern Arizona University opened the University Services Building (USB) in 2012. SmithGroupJJR designed this administration building to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification standards. Mortenson Construction built the USB in less than one year and under budget. The building design is based on a pre-fabricated metal panel system. This creates a perimeter support structure which maximizes interior square footage without traditional support columns. A southern glass wall lets in daylight.

The USB consolidated several administrative offices into one facility. The building currently houses University Marketing, the NAU Fund Calling Center, the Internal Audit office, and the Information Technology office. In 2016, the School of Informatics, Computing and Cyber Systems will relocate to the USB from the Engineering and Natural Sciences Building.
