Observational Intramural Field Complex

The Observational Intramural Field Complex, previously the Observatory Field, underwent renovations in spring 2014. The university separated the previously empty field into two landscaped and fenced fields with natural grass surfaces. The fields can accommodate soccer, ultimate Frisbee, Quidditch, and other activities. Northern Arizona University regularly hosts the Traditions Day Carnival and the Homecoming Carnival on the Observational Intramural Field Complex.

The fields are the practice spot of NAU's Quidditch Team, the NAU Narwhals. The field sport mimics a fictional game in the Harry Potter series. Founded in 2010, the Narwhals ride on broomsticks and chase tennis balls in place of Snitches. In 2013, the Narwhals competed in the International Quidditch Association World Cup VI against teams from around the world and advanced to the quarterfinals.
