U.S. Route 160 begins at U.S. Highway 89 (10 miles west of Tuba City) and travels northeasterly to the Four Corners (where Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico meet at a point) and then passes into Colorado. The Arizona section of Route 160 travels entirely within the Navajo Nation; the 1927 photographs show Route 160 here as a dirt road. In the first pair, Saneneheck Rock is seen in the background. In the second pair, note the considerable expansion of pinion and juniper since 1927 in the hills south of U.S. 160.
