The Divide

The Divide is the name that James J. Hanks applied to this site, known today as Yabut Pass. Here, the Rainbow Trail, which rises from Rainbow Lodge to the south, begins to drop into Cliff Canyon to the north. The elevation at this site is nearly 6600 feet. Cummings Mesa forms the skyline on the left (west) and Spencer Point, the northern cusp of Harvey’s Fear, is visible on the skyline to the right. The bottom two pairs of photographs here were taken on the way up to (south of) Yabut Pass. The south side of Aztec Mesa forms the skyline on the bottom pair and the right skyline on the pair just above.
