Bennett had a personal affinity for body portraiture. Bennett went to extensive lengths to light her shoots, making sure the luminance fell perfectly on her subjects. As a project for various athletic clubs, such as Gold’s Gym, in the mid-eighties, Bennett made a series of photographs featuring female body builders. Jackie’s Back (1987) is featured in this series along with other strong female figures. Lancelot Squatting also displays Bennett’s aesthetic preference wherein she plays with draping fabric to bring texture to her extensively lit subjects.
