“We went to Mexico and I remember we went to the village of Todos Santos in Mexico before Todos Santos became really known as a tourist destination. Um . . . we went to that village and she did a picture of a guy in shorts, you know, wearing outdoor clothing… wearing his shorts and running into the ocean and jumping in with a surfboard over his head. –John Running
Bennett and John Running traveled to the village of Todos Santos, located in the southern portion of Baja, Mexico in the early 1990s. It was there that Bennett made one of her most famous and widely distributed photographs, The Flying Surfer. Friends and colleagues recall her meticulous process for capturing and printing this image which afforded her even greater recognition in the commercial photography industry.
