“Sue did a picture of a herd of sheep that had just been milked, and they were all down just doing like sheep do and eating grass, except one of them had its head up and was looking and… God, the picture had a – you know, it was… this- kind of perfect symbolic picture of an individual … standing out from the crowd.” -John Running

Bennett and Running continued their international travels together, embarking on a two-month endeavor to Italy on assignment for the science magazine Airone in 1985. Some of Bennett’s most well- known work was spawned from this trip, including the portrait of a lone sheep looking straight into her camera. This print was featured in advertisements, such as the Canadian Lottery, and helped set Bennett apart as a commercial photographer. Bennett later returned to Italy in 2000 on assignment for Nikon.
