Virtual Flagstaff

In addition to in-person community outreach activities, Flagstaff 2020 used the power of the internet to engage greater Flagstaff 2020 residents in the community visioning process. In the 1990s, the City of Flagstaff, Flagstaff Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce began building websites to share information with citizens and promote tourism and recreation. One of these early websites was “Virtual Flagstaff.”

The Virtual Flagstaff home page linked to a discussion board for the Flagstaff 2020 community visioning process, as shown in the screenshot below, so that people could submit their comments by email. Community members could also explore the Flagstaff 2020 Community Profile through a linked site. And after the Flagstaff 2020 community visioning process ended in the summer of 1997, the 2020 Vision was published online as “Hands on Flagstaff’s Future!”
