Field House
The Union Field House opened as the North Activity Center in 1965. It provided students with adequate recreational facilities. The building has housed the Department of Physical Education and Recreation, coaches' offices, locker rooms, a large indoor track and field, as well as volleyball, tennis, and basketball courts. In the 1970s it even contained a small dining hall. The university regularly held class registration in the Field House until it began using a computerized system in the 1980s.
As the university grew it constructed other athletic facilities, repurposing the Union Field House to house student organizations and an advisement center. The large indoor arena is still available for recreational use and team practices.
