The Union Pacific Railroad did not ever complete a rail line that entered the Grand Canyon, but they did have a subsidiary business - the Utah Parks Company. This company was responsible for constructing the Grand Canyon Lodge on the north rim and for improving water transportation in the canyon. Union Pacific often advertised auto trips that visited a selection of national parks where the Utah Parks Company was the main concessioner - the north rim being one of them.
