This image of the Kolb Studio within the Grand Canyon was taken form the main mule trail above the studio. The horizon intersection of the roof in relation to the balcony window, as well as the three beams of the left-hand second story allowed a simple alignment for repetition. However, the magnitude of the wind that day, did force some complications with holding onto papers and maintaining a steady camera mount.

The image, of a bus unloading in front of Bright Angel Lodge, was repeated from the bushes that are now in front of the building. Buses can no longer pull up in front of the building like this, an unfortunate change for the repeat photograph as there were buses directly behind the photographer as he repeated this image.

This image looks Northeast towards the Bright Angle Lodge. The image was taken along the walkway in front of the building, as the road has been moved back. The image was taken in the afternoon.

This image of El Tovar, looking southwest, was taken from the sidewalk just west of Hopi House. Both the building and the walk remain unchanged, while the cars and visitors express the cultural changes since the original image.

This picture was taken mid-morning. The importance was to align the pointed roof of the porch with the second left window of the second story. The second portion of aligning the picture came from the right-hand vertical posts that are still there today. The sign on the front of the building as changed slightly.

This image looks east towards Hopi House. The repeat image was taken from the small grassy lawn in front of the El Tovar Hotel. The alignment of the image comes from the intersections of the doors and windows, as well as the wooden structure on the third-floor right hand side. The ladders have changed location; otherwise the building looks relatively the same.

This picture was taken from the southwest corner of the shop, looking to the north; the stick hanging down past the third rafter helped locate the vantage point. The area is much more crowded with curio trinkets and is bustling with tourists.

This picture was rephotographed in the late morning while standing on the tracks of the depot. The shadows, though seemingly the correct time of day, suggest later in the year.

This image was taken from across the tracks, standing beyond the gully, just south of the depot. The lighting was too early to rephotograph the image with the train.

This image looks south to the front of the Verkamp's store. The image was repeated in the late afternoon. The exterior of the store has changed, mainly in the decoration, though its very slight, while the interior has changed rather drastically.

This image was taken from within the Verkamp's store. The fireplace is still in place, though a large register counter now obscures it. The alignments came from the fireplace, as well as the vertical columns and the capitals.
