"I often arranged my classes to be held in the AM. This allowed me to go trout fishing in Oak Creek and other nearby lakes. Many times I would fish Oak Creek all afternoon and not see another person! Sounds great, doesn't it?"

"During World War II the V-12s were the 'cream of the crop' and they studied hard...The V-12s were allowed dinner out (they paid) one Wednesday night a month. There was a deluge on the restaurants, so five V-12s paid for my dinner ($1.25) if I [would go] downtown to the Black Cat restaurant one-half hour before they descended on the town. I saved a booth for them, so we all ate with no problems."

"I met my wife at Arizona State College while building floats for Homecoming. We found that we went to the same high school (she was four years behind me). We had our first date the following day, so IÕve always referred to her as my D.A.H.Q. (Day After Homecoming Queen). Our year together at A.S.C. was a special one." -

"Our marriage was really something! Evalyn was living in Morton Hall. Her folks didn't want us to get married, [but] our friends thought we should and [so did] the faculty. So Dr. Danny Deaver, Head of the Science Department, gave her away. [The] majority of faculty were there. She wore [her] House Mother's dress and shoes. She had to put paper in the toes of the shoes!"
