(A vast majority of Muench&#8217;s born digital photographs were taken outside the United States and thus did not fit the scope of this exhibit.) While it still embodies his classic techniques of &#8220;near\/far&#8221; and a dramatic evening light, the more consistent focus on all planes of the photo is unusual and may be attributable to the greater depth of focus possible with a digital camera. Muench typically enjoys playing with scale and focus; this picture strays away from heightened contrast in favor of dramatic but realistic color. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Muench&#8217;s emphasis on capturing a time of day which passes in mere moments is particularly notable in his later photographs. With the digital camera&#8217;s precision and quicker cool down time, Muench likely had an easier time capturing his &#8220;timeless moments.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Taken in Arches National Park, Utah. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Windows and Pillars is the only photograph featured in The Allure of Light taken with a digital camera.
