TINSLEY HALL

Designed by the architectural firm of Guirey, Srnka, and Arnold and constructed by Manhattan-Dickmann in 1963-1964 at a cost of $1,059,482.80, this 440-bed mens' three-story dormitory was the second of three large dorms on campus at the time. Tinsley Hall was dedicated by Senator Thomas M. Knowles of Flagstaff in honor of Dr. William Tinsley, a faculty member and administrator at the university for thirty-five years. Today Tinsley houses 482 men. The "Tinsley Crazies", a unique hall tradition, consist of a group of residents who paint their faces and carry an axe to NAU athletic events as a show of support.
