THE RIDGE
The Ridge, a 600-bed residence hall, opened September 1, 1984. The facility offers suite-style living arrangements (two students per room with two rooms sharing a bathroom) as well as study, meeting, and lounging facilities. Upon its completion, President Eugene M. Hughes stated that "Ridge Residence Hall will attract people from business and industry [whom] weÕve not tapped...people we need to cultivate and serve." Accordingly, the facility hosts summer conferences, workshops, and conventions. Today the Ridge houses many nontraditional and graduate students as well as numerous athletes because of the hallÕs proximity to the Skydome. Each year "Ridge Fest" is celebrated with a day-long festival and music, food, and games.
