WOMEN'S GYM 1926

Designed by architects Lescher and Mahoney of Phoenix in the Renaissance Revival style and built in 1926, the Women's Gymnasium housed a 90' x 60' basketball floor in addition to stationary gym equipment. A five hundred seat balcony provided seating for spectators. The upper floor of the gym housed offices for the Departments of Physical Education and Health as well as for coaches. The basement, or lower floor, contained showers, dressing rooms, a 75' x 25' swimming pool (the first indoor pool in northern Arizona), and lockers. The Women's Gym was remodeled in 1985 to serve as office space for the Communications Department.
