COLLEGE OF CREATIVE AND COMMUNICATION ARTS

The first phase of the "Creative Arts Center" was completed in 1969 and included facilities for the Drama, Art, Humanities, Speech Communication, Journalism, and Music Departments. In 1971 phase II opened, including a 1,550-seat music hall designed to handle major musical productions and to serve as a facility for both university and community productions, such as Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra concerts and the Flagstaff Festival of the Arts. In 1973, a $200,000 pipe organ, the showpiece of the auditorium, was installed. The concert hall was formally named the Eldon A. Ardrey Memorial Auditorium in 1975.
