CHEMISTRY-PHYSICAL SCIENCE BUILDING
Built in 1964 at a cost of $1,698,890, the Chemistry-Physical Sciences building was formally dedicated by Regent Norman Sharber on November 8, 1968. In addition to housing the Department of Chemistry, the building provided expanded facilities for the Geology Department, including the department's new Bensusan Collection of rock and mineral specimens. As part of the dedication for the new science buildings (the Biological Sciences Center was constructed at the same time), NAU sponsored a symposium on "Man and the Universe." Speakers for the event included Nobel laureate Dr. Willard F. Libby, scientist-astronaut Dr. Harrison H. Schmitt, astrophysicist Dr. Lodewijk Waltjer, and ecologist Dr. S. Charles Kerleigh.
