F.D.R.'s Defense Inspection Trip September 17 - October 1, 1942 |
In 1942, President Franklin D. Roosevelt traveled by rail and car, circumnavigating the United States on a non publicized tour of military bases and war industries. During the fourteen days of his journey, he took note of the resources available to use in the war effort and gave support and kudos to the workers. Bill Belknap was one of four Navy photographers who accompanied the tour, and his images give a glimpse into the nation at war. |
