- Biographic note:
- Dr. Dennis James Brannen (1858-1908), Flagstaff's first physician, arrived in 1882. He established the community's first drug store. In 1883, as the Democratic candidate, he was elected to the Thirteenth Territorial Legislature from Yavapai County. In 1887 he was named Flagstaff Postmaster. Dr. Brannen was an organizer of the Flagstaff Board of Trade, president of the company operating the first stagecoach to the Grand Canyon, Captain in the Arizona National Guard, rancher and real estate agent.
He married Kathleen O'Donnell in 1880. Following her death he married Felicia A. Marley.
