The purpose of this worksheet is to collect technical information that will assist the Cline Library in determining the research value, uniqueness, and feasibility of providing access and archiving your digital donation. We ask that you answer the following questions.
Is the donation a digital re-creation of an analog (physical) source (ie. photograph, document, tape recording, film) or was the file created using digital technology (ie. digital camera, computer, Web site)?
What is the file format of the digital object(s)? (e.g. .tif, .jpg, .pdf, .wav, .rm, .mov)
What device is used to store the digital object(s)? (e.g. 5 1/4" or 3 1/2" floppy disk, zip disk, CD, DVD)
How large is the digital object(s)? (ie. kilobytes, megabytes, gigabytes, terabytes)
When was the digital object created and/or last updated?
If donation is a digital image, what is the image resolution? (ie. pixel dimensions)
Has the digital object been modified? Examples: cropping, airbrushing, alteration of light and sound levels, filtering.
What hardware and software were used to create the digital object(s)? (e.g. digital camera or scanner make and model, software version or programming language, operating system).
Is there documentation on the hardware and software or process used to create the digital object(s)?
Does the digital file include encryption or compression technology that would require additional software to access? (e.g. watermarking technology, zip compression).
Other information you feel may assist in accessing and preserving the donated digital object(s)?
