The San Francisco Mountain Boulevard was a scheme by Flagstaff
businessman and entrepreneur, John Weatherford, to construct a highway
to the top of the San Francisco Peaks. The Company received a permit to
build the road in 1916, but did not start construction until the 1920s. Ten
miles of road were built before the enterprise ran out of money.
