Railroad Survey Books: "King's Exploration Notes," 1883
Arizona Lumber and Timber Company Collection, MS 266
Thomas Starr King was a surveyor for the Arizona Mineral Belt Railroad. These survey notes were part of an ambitious plan to build a railroad from Flagstaff, Arizona to Globe Arizona. The company went bankrupt in 1887. The next year the railroad was sold, at auction, to the Arizona Lumber and Timber Company.
