Early Morning Light on Court House Rock, Maricopa County,
Arizona. A striking volcanic plug, 1000 feet above the Harquahala Plain
in the Sonoran Desert. [Josef Muench]
Morning Mists rises at the base of the Vulture Mountains,
an unusual occurance in the Sonoran Desert. Cholla cactus in the fore

Autumn on the North Rim. View southeast from Point Imperial
(8801 feet, highest in the rims) the Rocky Mountain maple and evergreens

threatening sky moves across, a break in the clouds lets the sun radiate

Winter at Grand Canyon Nat'l Park, Ariz. From Mohave Point
on the South Rim, a snowy pinyon tree frames the big chasm of the Colorado

Muench Butte in the Dead World, Southeastern Utah. A dramatic
mesa, draped in Mancos shale below its Mesa Verde capping, named by local
people for the photographer Josef Muench, who first portrayed it. [Josef

Kachina Bridge in Natural Bridges National Monument, southeastern
Utah. This massive bridge, spannning White Canyon is considered at a youthful
stage in the life of a natural bridge. Flood waters are still enlarging
the opening beneath the span. Its height is 210 feet and has a span of
206 ft. [Josef Muench]
Early Winter at Zion National Park, Utah. The Watchman,
a sentinel at the South Entrance to the Park wrapped in an early November
snow blanket at the time when cottonwoods trees along the Virgin River

The Great White Throne-Zion National Park, Utah. The 2394
foot of sheer rise of this formation plus others in the park is seen from
East Rim Trail with Prickly Pear cactus (Opuntia rhodantha) in full bloom.

Waterfalls in Pleasant Creek, Capital Reef National Park,
Utah. This perennial little stream, with its source high up on the Aquarius
Plateau, has carved this beautiful canyon out of soilid rock. [Josef Muench]
Navajo Indian in Monument Valley. North Window-tree on

Moccasin Arch in Monument Valley, Arizona. As colorful
as the red sandstone, a Navajo Indian sits astride his pony in the desert
lands of his tribe where erosion has shaped the rock into this striking
window. [Josef Muench]
This prould old matriarch could tell stirring tales of
her life in the desert. She is a member of the most colorful and largest
tribe in the United States. [Josef Muench]
Navajo Indian Rug. The second largest single-piece floor-covering
known, was made by Indian women. Minny-Many Horses [Minnie Manyhorses]
was the weaver with helpers preparing the wool. It measures 19x31 feet
