A. The Shrine of the Ages Concert Choir.

The Shrine of the Ages choir, part of the larger symphonic A Cappella Choir, was organized by Dr. Elon A. Ardrey in 1933 following the reorganization of the college's original mixed glee club dating from 1928 under R. B. Courtright. Discontinuing the conventional try-out process, Dr. Ardrey accepted all participants in a semester-length course "A Capella Choir." The top thirty-five or forty students were chosen to comprise the Shrine of the Ages Concert Choir. The Easter sunrise service was broadcast live by KTAR radio of Phoenix and carried to a nation-wide audience on the NBC radio network. By the 1950s, NBC carried the program on live television.
