In two to three decades you're gonna have black trees staring you in the face, and then the grass'll come back, it doesn't look like its been sterilized, and, yeah, it can create some openings which are good, but you know, a real simplistic view of it is that there's, for firefighters, sometimes, there's only 2 kinds of trees…green…life…(voice trails off, murky sound)…philosophical discussions about which generation's gonna enjoy the improvement…
Yeah, the grasses and the wildflowers come back the next growing season…healthier than before. But you can see the Radio fire on Mt. Elden was 1977, you know, 24 years ago and there's still black trees standing there. So there's 24-year-olds in our community that have seen nothing but black trees their whole lives. Beneficial is subjective in some ways.
