In 1937, Bill and his mother moved to Boulder City, Nevada, near the shores of Lake Mead. The town was originally created to house the workers of Hoover Dam, but the nascent community continued to grow and change after completion of the project. Belknap documented the individuality of this community during the many decades he lived there, both before and after World War II. His involvement in the community and his affinity for the surrounding lands is readily apparent in his photographs close to home. BACK
