Linking Directly to E-Books

The library's licensed e-book collections NetLibrary, Ebrary, and ABC-Clio provide access to thousands of titles. Records for all of these titles are also in the library catalog. The easiest way to find electronic books and share the links with others is to use the catalog.

  1. There are several options for finding e-books in the library catalog:
  2. If more than one title is listed, click the link to see the full record for the desired title. In multi-title catalog screens, e-books are labeled [electronic resource]. If no titles are found try alternate descriptive words or fewer words.
  3. Right-click on the link, An electronic book accessible through the World Wide Web; click to view -- in IE, select "Copy Shortcut" ; in Firefox select "Copy Link Location" (see illustration below).
  4. Paste the copied url into your Web editor or other application. Note that the url includes a prefix -- http://libproxy.nau.edu/login?url= -- which ensures that NAU students, faculty or staff using non-NAU network connections can still access the licensed e-book content by logging in with an NAU ID and password.
