Giving to Special Collections and Archives
Gifts of Archival Collections
Most archival collections found at the Cline Library are gifts to Northern Arizona University from people who share an appreciation for the value of regional historical materials and an interest in their preservation and public access. All gift materials, whether one item or a thousand, contribute to our understanding of the Colorado Plateau or the history of the University across a multitude of disciplines.Cline Library always appreciates information about personal, business or organizational records which relate to the Colorado Plateau or Northern Arizona University and which may be acquired through a gift or bequest. A policy outlining the scope of the collections housed in Cline Library’s Special Collections and Archives is available upon request. Please be aware that donations of archival collections involve both a transfer of physical ownership and any associated copyright or literary rights. See the Library Deed of Gift. Library staff are also happy to discuss a gift of digital archival material which meets the technical specifications necessary to ensure long-term preservation and access. The library is unable to provide complimentary copies of materials in return for a donation, so donors are encouraged to obtain copies for family members prior to execution of a gift.
